New York politics and "corruption" have become synonymous. Albany on down to local town councils are in dire need of ethical reform to ensure that politicians are not only fit to serve but are properly representing their districts.
No conflict of interests, no behind-closed-door meetings, no bowing down to special interest groups, and no acting in your own self-interest instead of putting the needs of your constituents first.
I believe that much stricter laws need to be passed to ensure that politicians and all public servants are not abusing their positions at the cost of the taxpayer. I'd be willing to work across the aisle with Republican members to hold all public servants to the same standard.
